Edna May Borden, 98, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 in Holzer Senior Care Center, Bidwell, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late William Arnett Hill and Geneva Payne Hill, born August 31, 1918 at Massieville, Ohio. Edna served her community through many memberships, some of which include Gallia County Homemakers, the French Art Colony, American Rug Hooking Association and the American Weaving Guild as well as being a member of First Presbyterian Church, Gallipolis, Ohio. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, rug hooking, spinning and baking and shared her knowledge with others through teaching and providing information by demonstration. Edna was very proud of a request made by the White House for a rug hooked angel to be displayed on the First Lady’s Christmas tree as requested by former First Lady, Hillary Clinton.

She is survived by her daughters: India Borden-Cullen, Gallipolis, Ohio; Emmagene Borden, St. Johns, Newfoundland and Nylita Sutton, Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren: William Cullen, Halifax, Nova Scotia; Christi Rivera, Wisconsin and Donavan Price, Columbus, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Nyle D. Borden, M. Div., November 17, 1989; brother, Kenneth Grant and sister, Margaret Keels.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, October 7, 2016 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis with co-officiates, Rev. Timothy Luoma and Rev. A. J. Stack presiding. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Thursday 6:00-8:00 PM.
