George Washington Dixie Twyman, 81, Vinton, Ohio passed away at his home Sunday, March 12, 2017.  He was born October 21, 1935 in Ewington, Ohio to the late Creed Collins Twyman and Vesta Plummer.  George was married to Betty Jean Hale, his wife of 59 years.  He was a member Ewington Church of Christ in Christian Union and He served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Alaska and was there when Alaska became a state. He was a  member of American Legion Post 161, Vinton, Ohio; DAV #53, Cheshire, Ohio; Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association; Democrat Central Committeeman; American Red Cross and former member of Vinton Volunteer Fire Department. George was born and reared on the family farm in Ewington, which was his home.

In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by his son, Robert Eugene Twyman, Columbus, Ohio; special family friends, Tina Craig and family, Ellen Benz and Esta Downard; sisters-in-law, Nancy Twyman and Bobbie J. Daniels.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Lynne Twyman; brothers, Grady Twyman, Lloyd Twyman; sisters, Beatrice Cremeans, Dorothy Twyman and sisters-in-law, Pearl Twyman and Billie Jo Brown.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Ewington Church of Christ in Christian Union with Pastor David Greer officiating.  Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park where Full Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by Vinton American Legion and Members of Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.  Family and friends may call at Ewington Church of Christ in Christian Union Wednesday 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
