Harold Eugene Brown, 86, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away at his residence October 10, 2017. The son of the late Ervin and Alta (Mullet) Brown, he was born March 29, 1931 at Sugar Creek, Ohio. A graduate of Baltic High School, Baltic, Ohio, Harold served fourteen and one-half years in the United States Marine Corp serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Vinton F&M Lodge 131 and First Church of the Nazarene, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was employed by the United States Postal Service where he served as the Post Master in Vinton, Ohio, retiring in 1997 and he served as Mayor of Vinton as well.

He married Mary E. “Libby” Rollins Brown, who survives along with his children: Debbie (Joe) Trapasso, Mike (Teresa) Brown and Nick Brown, all of Columbus, Ohio; Lance (Kayla) Brown, Oak Hill, Ohio; Curt Brown, Vinton, Ohio and step children: Peggy Besco, Crown City, Ohio; Harold (Debra) Barcus and Tina Barcus, both of Gallipolis, Ohio and Jessica (Frank) Esterly, Vinton, Ohio; twenty grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Karen (Loren) Parson, New Philadelphia, Ohio as well a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Paul E. Brown and sisters, Sara Mae Brown, Evelyn F. Casebeer and Clare Miller.

In accordance with his wishes, Cremation services are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio. Burial will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, October 20, 2017 in the Ohio Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Doug Downs, officiating. Full Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by Vinton American Legion Post #161.
