Horace "Crazy Horse" Hardy, 79, formally of New London, Connecticut, passed away in Gallipolis, Ohio, May 8, 2016 at the age of 79. He was born June 12, 1936 in Ahoskie, North Carolina to the late Alexander and Annie De Lotch Hardy. He joined and served in the U. S. Army at the age of 16 and settled in New London at the age of 19. Horace proudly worked and retired from Iron Workers Local # 15, contributing on projects such as Millstone Point Power Plant and the Gold Star (2nd span) Memorial Bridge. He moved to Gallipolis, Ohio to be closer to his son.

Horace is survived by his children: Angelo Hardy, Deboragh Hardy and Monica Robinson- Hardy; sister, Lucy Austin and former wife, Beatrice Hardy, with whom he remained friends. He leaves behind grandchildren: Anita Hardy, Angelo "Guz" Hardy Jr., Troy Hardy, Angelique Tobey, Racquel Perry and Kyra Robinson. He also leaves behind 9 great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 5 sisters, 7 brothers and grandson, Joshua Tobey.

Horace had a passion for playing the saxophone and loved blues and gospel music. He had a fondness for Shiloh Baptist church in New London where he frequented in earlier years. His quick wit and colorful personality is already and will be missed by his family.

Memorial services will be conducted Friday, May 20, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday 5:00 PM until the time of service.
