Roger Louis James

Roger Louis James, 82, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at his home. He was born August 28, 1934 at Eureka, Ohio, son of the late Rush F. and Martha Mae (McLaughlin) James. Roger married Rosa Belle Layne James, who survives. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. His memberships include: Gallipolis American Legion Post 27; Gallipolis VFW Post 4464; Gallipolis Morning Dawn F & AM; U. S. Army Corp of Engineers for 37 years and he retired as a Lock Master of the Gallipolis Locks and Dam. He attended the Eureka United Methodist Church.

Survived by his wife, he leaves behind as well to cherish his memory his children: Beverly Sue (James) Knight, Crown City, Ohio; Cheryl Lynn (Mark) Lynch, Point Pleasant, West Virginia and Randall F. (Rita) James, Gallipolis, Ohio; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brothers: Richard (Mary) James and Russell James, both of Gallipolis, Ohio and sister: Virginia (Bill) McKinney, Gallipolis, Ohio; brother-in-law, Dan Lewis, Gallipolis, Ohio and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Gregory Lee James; sisters, Mary Lewis and Daisy Sims and sister-in-law, Virginia James.

In accordance with his wishes, there are no services. Cremation is under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio, who is honored to serve the James Family.
