Homer L. “Lee” McCarty, 92, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 in the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. Lee was the son of the late Roy and Frances (King) McCarty, born September 13, 1931 in Cheshire, Ohio.
A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, Lee was a retired Postmaster of the Cheshire Post Office. He held many memberships which include United Postmaster & Managers of America, Middleport American Legion #128, Middleport, Ohio, Siloam F & M Lodge, Cheshire, Ohio, Aladdin Shrine, Columbus, Ohio, Gallipolis Shrine Club, Gallipolis, Ohio, 32nd Degree Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite, a member of Cheshire Baptist Church and Board Member of the Gravel Hill Cemetery Association, Cheshire, Ohio.
Lee married Louise Irion July 28, 1950 in Northup, Ohio and she preceded him in death following almost 60 years of marriage May 23, 2010.
Lee is survived by his children: Pamela (David) Bryan, Gallipolis, Ohio and Gregory (Judy) McCarty, Clarksville, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Tyler (Brett) Burnett, Columbus, Ohio; Christopher (Courtney) Burnett, Gallipolis; Matthew (Wendy) McCarty, Flowering Branch, Georgia and Jamie (Jason) Dowling, Clarksville, Tennessee; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Frank) McCalla, Inverness, Florida and special friend, Betty Jo Clark, Gallipolis, Ohio.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by brother, Robert McCarty and sisters, Nancy McCarty and JoAnne Borltzki.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Thursday, April 11, 2024 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Jon Thompson officiating. Full Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Thursday 10:00 AM to the hour of service.
