Eleanor Irene “Judy” Haffelt, 77, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017.  She was born June 14, 1940 in Crown City, Ohio to the late Woodrow Wilson and Marcella Green Eggleton.  Judy married John W. Haffelt July 28, 1957 in Crown City, Ohio and he survives.  She was a member of Church of Christ at Rio Grande, Ohio.

Judy grew up on a farm helping raise her nine brothers and sisters.  She was a cheerleader at Bidwell-Porter High School when she met her husband.  She spent several years working in pediatrics at Holzer Hospital.  She loved bird watching, spending time in her flower garden and making sure everyone was well-fed.  Her life’s work was spent raising and spoiling her children and grandchildren that were her whole world.  She will be deeply missed by everyone, but mostly by her husband who was by her side every minute of every day.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of sixty years, John and their children:  Mark W. Haffelt, Lehigh Acres, Florida; Christine R. (Kent) Locke, White House, Tennessee and Amanda D. (Joe) Vandermark, Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren:  Abigail N. Haffelt, Athens, Ohio; Amy M. Haffelt, Columbus, Ohio; Wesley A. Locke, White House, Tennessee; Finn J. Vandermark and Kieran E. Vandermark, both of Westerville, Ohio; brother, Ira (Joan) Eggleton, Bradenton, Florida; sisters, Sara Bailey, Belpre, Ohio and Teresa (Greg) Eliason, Chillicothe, Ohio as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by brothers: Tommy, Richard, Carl, Dudley and Johnny Eggleton and sister, Jane Setliff.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Church of Christ of Rio Grande, Ohio with Minister Jason Ridgeway officiating.  Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services on Thursday.  The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, is honored to serve the Haffelt Family.
