Helen J. Bickers, 96, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (formerly of Crown City, Ohio) passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 in the Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Chambersburg. Helen was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Rodney, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Benton and Lola Fay (Craddock) Pauley, born in Ethel, West Virginia October 3, 1923. Helen attended Fairmont State University under the Eleanor Roosevelt Scholarship Program. She married William "Ben" Bickers and together, during their nearly sixty years of marriage, they owned and operated the Bidwell Milling Company and several beef farms before Ben preceded her in death May 19, 2000.
Helen is survived by four loving children: Benny D. (Gilda) Bickers, San Diego, California; Timothy H. (Arlene) Bickers, Winfield, Alabama; Pamella J. (Frank) Clary, Crown City, Ohio and Kimberly J. (Audrey Tozer) Bickers, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Barbara (Luther) Cope, Scott Depot, West Virginia and Prudy Oney, Charleston, West Virginia as well as six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny and Teddy and three sisters, Kathleen, Ruth and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Monday, October 28, 2019 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Rev. Jim Lusher officiating. Burial will follow in the Centenary Cemetery, Gallipolis. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the service time of noon.
