Janet Lee (Kirk) Alexander

Janet Lee (Kirk) Alexander, 78, of Gallia County, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Gallipolis, Ohio with her children at her side. Born June 10, 1940 in Stirrat, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Viola (Lewis Procklevich) Kirk.  

Janet moved to Columbus, Ohio after high school graduation where she met Jimmy W. Alexander of Lampasas, Texas at a USO dance. They eloped and were married June 15, 1959 in Richmond, Indiana.  Together they had three children: Krista K. Alexander, Judy L. Alexander and Bradley W. (Stephanie Houchins) Alexander; seven grandchildren: Stacie L. Alexander, Katharine V. Alexander, Carol A. (Joseph) Hager, Amanda M. (Joshua Sargent) Eason, Nicholas W. (Ashley Coleman) Alexander, Kelli A. Kuehn and Jessica E. (Riley) Abrahamson; six great-grandchildren: Everly Q. Hager, Olive F. Hager, Rhys E. Abrahamson, Rowan E. Abrahamson, Hannon W. Hager, and Mason B. Alexander and one soon to be step-great grandson, Tyler Sargent.  Jan also had numerous relatives and friends that she loved. A homemaker most of her life, she found great joy in being a wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents and husband of 54 years, Jan was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy; brother, Jimmy Dale Kirk and sister, Sharon (Kirk) Baisden. 

In accordance with her adamant lifelong wish, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation services are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home and will be followed later by a private interment of ashes in the Atlantic Ocean by the family, as Jan instructed.
