Patricia Jo "Pat" (Lloyd) Bastiani

Patricia Jo “Pat” Bastiani, 79, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018. She was born April 27, 1938 in Marietta, Ohio, daughter of the late Bruce and Helen (Smith) Lloyd. She graduated from Middleport High School in 1956 where she was involved in many clubs and activities before attending Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. She highly valued education and was responsible for organizing the new community kindergarten class of which she served as the first President in 1963. She later served as a Homeroom Mother and Boy Scout Leader. Her passion for art led to her involvement in helping establish the French Art Colony, Gallipolis, Ohio, where she served as Vice-President.
Pat was a talented and accomplished artist in many mediums, her favorite being tole painting. She began teaching classes and selling her tole pieces at the Bob Evans Farm Festival which led her to her first business, Peddlers Panty, where she also sold other local artists wares. Several years later, she moved and bought “The Common Market” in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was in Cincinnati that Pat suffered several strokes which left her with paralysis of her right side and an inability to speak. With much hard work and dedication, she did not give up and went on to purchase and totally renovate two historical homes while continuing to paint.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gallipolis, Ohio and their continued support for her over the years has been greatly appreciated by her family. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and gardening. She dearly loved playing bridge, traveling and spending time with her “fleurs” friends. An avid collector of art, she also enjoyed collecting antiques and pottery.

Pat leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: John Bastiani, Maryland; Wendy (Frank) Cocchiarale, Columbus, Ohio and Michael (Renee) Bastiani, Gallipolis, Ohio; two grandchildren which she adored: Francesca and Giovanni Cocchiarale; and three brothers: Jim Lloyd, Zanesville, Ohio; Jack (Jill) Lloyd, Brookville, Ohio and Mike Lloyd, Colorado as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Rev. Randy Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Thursday 11:00 AM until the time of service.
