Patrick Dale Stout, 63, Bidwell, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home Sunday, September 2, 2018. Born September 19, 1954 in Gallipolis, Ohio, he was the son of the late Bruce and Virginia (McClaskey) Stout. He was a 1972 graduate of North Gallia High School and a U. S. Air Force Veteran serving 1973-1977. Pat was stationed at Clark Air Force Base, Philippines and Pease Air Force Base, New Hampshire, where he was a security policeman. His memberships include Vinton American Legion Post 161; Vinton Masonic Lodge 131; Ohio Beta Club Chairman; National Beta Club board member; Kentucky Colonel for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and a current Educational Service Center Consultant. He attended Gallipolis First Church of God, Centenary, Ohio.
Pat received his Bachelor of Education from the University of Rio Grande in 1980 and his Master of Administration from the University of Dayton in 1984. He went on to teach History in the Gallipolis City Schools; was a teacher at Bidwell-Porter Elementary School from 1982 to 1985; served as Principal of North Gallia High School 1985 to 1992 and was the first Principal of River Valley High School from 1992 to 2002. He became the Director of Curriculum for the Gallia County Local Schools in which he served from 2002 to 2010.
An avid sports fan, Pat coached several teams throughout the area including Gallia Academy Girls Basketball; Gallia Academy High School Assistant Football Coach; Bidwell-Porter Jr. High Boys Basketball and North Gallia High School Varsity Boys Basketball teams. He had a passion for golf as well.
He married the love of his life, Patricia (Burger) Stout, on June 1, 1972. They were blessed with two sons, Brian (Liz) Stout of Bidwell, Ohio and Jason (Rachel) Stout of Gallipolis, Ohio. Pat’s blessings continued to mount in the form of his six grandchildren: Brea, Abby, Lexi, Thomas, Katie, and Marcus.
He also leaves behind three brothers: Michael (Edith) Stout, Gallipolis, Ohio; Terry Stout, Destin, Florida and Timothy (Rhoda) Stout, Bidwell, Ohio; sisters-in-law: Carole (Ray) Kemper, Mount Sterling, Ohio and Linda Deel, Vinton, Ohio and a brother-in-law, Kris (Amy) Burger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Joyce Twyman and Linda Stout and brothers-in-law, Ron Twyman and Roger Deel.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, September 7, 2018 in the First Church of God, 1723 State Route 141, Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Paul Voss officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends and family may call at the church 3:00-8:00 PM Thursday. Masonic Services will be conducted by the Vinton F&AM Lodge 131 at 7:30 PM Thursday.
Pallbearers for Pat’s services include: Mike Stout, Terry Stout, Tim Stout, Brian Stout, Jason Stout and Thomas Stout. Honorary Pallbearers include: Brea Stout, Abby Stout, Lexi Stout, Katie Stout and Marcus Stout.
