Robert Lee Stem, 72, Bidwell, Ohio passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. He was born March 19, 1945 at Glouster, Ohio, son of the late William Henry and Maxine (Hoarnn) Stem. He married Brookise Hunt Stem July 18, 1964 at Columbus, Ohio, who survives. Robert was a United States Navy Veteran and played football for the Pearl Admirals, the Navy Football team, while serving. He played football at Glouster High School and was a huge Michigan State Football fan. For several years, he was a Little League and Pony Baseball Coach in Gallia County; a Wyandot Indian Guide while living in Toledo and above all, he was a family man. This led he and his wife to foster over two hundred children in Michigan and Ohio throughout their marriage - each a joy to them both. He worked for several different manufacturing companies in his thirty-five-year career, retiring from the Martinrea Manufacturing Company, Jonesville, Michigan where he was a special machinist operator.

Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory in addition to his wife, Brookise, their sons: Donald Lee and Teresa Stem, Bidwell, Ohio and Robert Aaron and Teala Stem, Homer, Michigan; grandchildren: Jeremy Stem, Tekonsha, Michigan; Dora Stem, Muskegan, Michigan; Ashley (Jason) Jarvis, Frontier, Michigan; Kayla Stem, Hillsdale, Michigan and Steven (Ashley) Stem, Homer, Michigan; great-grandchildren: Nicole Jarvis, Christopher Jarvis, Haley Jarvis, Ella Rose Stem, Isabella Stem, Hunter Aaron Stem and Noah Stem, all of Michigan; sisters: Sue Ann (Bill) Northup, Oregon, Ohio and Judy Ann (Bill) Dunwoody, Toledo, Ohio; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Steeirl and Alma Hunt, Columbus, Ohio; Doris and Glen Ball, Columbus, Ohio; Troy and Barbara Hunt, Kemper, Kentucky; Jack and Wenda Hunt, Vinton, Ohio; Ireland Junior Hunt, Bidwell, Ohio and John Hunt, Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members as well as his loving pet and companion, Joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George Stem and William “Junior” Stem and sister, Jenny Smith.

Robert was not only a family man – he was known as well for his love of gardening, fishing and bow hunting. He never met a stranger, was a joker and gave all who he met the benefit of the doubt. He looked for the “good” in everyone, and those who knew him loved him.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Jack Hunt and Troy Hunt, officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Tuesday, December 5, 2017 5:00-8:00 PM. There will also be a one-hour visitation Wednesday 10:00 AM, prior to the service. In accordance with Roberts wishes, cremation shall follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Stem Family at 3203 Kerr Road Bidwell, OH 45614.
