Ruth Irene Long

Ruth Irene Long, 92, Wilkesville, Ohio passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Four Winds Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, Ohio. Born May 5, 1927 in Wilkesville, she was the daughter of the late Chauncey and Nellie (Whittington) Long.

Ruth graduated from Wilkesville High School in 1944, proudly achieving Valedictorian of her class. She spent most of her life in Wilkesville, returning after her career in Bookkeeping from Columbus, Ohio. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays and giving her handmade gifts to family members, which included knitted, crocheted and needlepoint items. Ruth had a sense of humor she kept hidden from many until later in life and she will be dearly missed.

Those surviving include her brother, Emmett and Geraldine Long, Sr., Jackson, Ohio and several nieces and nephews residing in Ohio, Tennessee and California.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Woodrow Bowen and brother and sister-in-law, William A. and Leola Mabel Long.

Graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends and family may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
