Ada Mae (Thomas) Strausbaugh

Ada Mae Thomas Reed Strausbaugh, 85, Wilkesville, Ohio passed away Saturday March 19, 2011 in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. She was born August 14, 1925 in Cheshire, Ohio, daughter of the late Earl Eltro Thomas and Sarah Jane Ward Thomas Hartman. She was the widow of the late Clovis Lawrence Strausbaugh.

Ada was a retired cook and homemaker, having worked for Ohio University and later the owner and operator, along with her husband Clovis, of the Big Dipper Restaurant of Wilkesville as well as an Elder and 50 year member of the Wilkesville Presbyterian Church. Her memberships include: Charter Member and past President of the Wilton Civic Association; Wilkesville Women's Auxillary Post #476; Wilkesville OES #207; Wilkesville Grange; Pythian Sisters; Past Chiefs Club and Wilkesville Garden Club.

Ada is survived by a sister, Louise Bell of McConnelsville; sister-in-law, Merlyn (Glenn) Arnold of Columbus; brother-in-law, Paul (Sandy) Strausbaugh of Newark; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by her first husband Clarence Reed, killed in action in WWII; brother, Archie E. Thomas; sister Frances Geneva Hartman and infant brother, Earl Lewis Thomas.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in the Wilkesville Presbyterian Church with Pastor James Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Tuesday 4:00-8:00 PM and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Eastern Star Services will be conducted 7:45 PM Tuesday at the funeral home by Wilkesville OES #207.
