Ada Irene (Waugh) France

Ada Irene Waugh France, 93, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (formerly of Gallipolis, Ohio) passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at her home. Ada was born February 2, 1930 at Ashland, Kentucky, daughter of the late Amos Morton and Inez (Penix) Waugh. She attended Ashland City Schools in Ashland, Kentucky, for eleven years before moving to Gallia Academy High School from which she graduated in 1948.

She then furthered her education by attending Holzer Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1951. Ada was employed at Holzer Hospital until her retirement in 1992.

She married Paul Edward France August 2, 1958 at Gallipolis, Ohio and he preceded her in death August 6, 2008, shortly following their 50 Year Anniversary. An avid gardener, she greatly enjoyed the Gallipolis in Bloom Program, winning "Yard of the Week" with her beautiful flowers, of which she was very proud.

Ada will be greatly missed by her children: Jeffrey Paul (Jana) France, Plymouth, Minnesota; Elizabeth Jean Wilson, Gallipolis, Ohio and Jo Ellen (Andy) Fisher, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren: Alexandra France, Annika France, Caroline Wilson, Ashley (Jacob) Giebel and Paul Andrew Fisher as well as great-granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Stone. Also missing her are sister, Alice DeVol and nephew, Mark (Jennifer) Devol, all of Sierra Vista, Arizona and niece, Lisa (Bruce) Benard, Powell, Ohio along with five great-nieces and other extended family members.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Randy Wilson.

A Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 14, 2024 in Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis, Ohio. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, is honored to serve the France Family and handling local arrangements.
