Albert Welch Jr., 76, Bidwell, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. He was a retired plumber and roofer who served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the DAV, Gallipolis and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Poplar Ridge Baptist Church.
He was born on March 31, 1934 in Sand Lick, West Virginia, son of the late Albert Welch Sr. and Elizabeth Scott Welch. He married Pearl Lyons on April 6, 1957 in Redhouse, West Virginia and she survives with four children: Gene (Tami) Welch, Oak Hill, Ohio; Chris Welch, Patriot, Ohio; Rick (Tammy) Welch, Gallipolis, Ohio; and Donna (Randy) McNeil, Roanoke, Virginia.
Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Ann Davidson, Athens, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters, Thornton Welch, Norma Bias, and Betty Lemley.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with Pastor Chester Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Popular Ridge Cemetery with full Military Graveside Rites. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, 6:00-8:00 PM.
