Arnold E. Pope

Arnold E. Pope, 80, of Newark, Ohio, passed away Monday, October 12, 2026, at his home following a brief illness. Arnold was born April 4, 1946, in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the late John Pope and Geneva and James Wells.

Arnold was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict and a member of Vinton American Legion Post 161. He retired from Arvin-Meritor Manufacturing, Newark, following thirty-one years of service. He married LaDonna Oiler Pope May 26, 1967, in Sparta, North Carolina, who survives.

To this union were born two children: Bryan Wayne (Tracy) Pope, Pickerington, Ohio and Sabrina Lynn (David) McComb, Newark, Ohio; grandchildren: Makayla, Makenzie and Julianna McComb, Tanner and Lydia Pope as well as sisters and brother, Nancy Johnson, Newark, Cary (Robert) Harless, Vinton, Ohio and Johnny Pope, Kerr, Ohio. And special friends, Nancy and Bob.

In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by son, Arnie Pope Jr. and brothers, Bobby Pope, Leroy Pope and Larry Wells.

Graveside services will be conducted immediately following the Visitation Wednesday, October 14, 2026, With Pastor David Greer officiating in Vinton Memorial Park Cemetery with Full Military Graveside Rites by Vinton American Legion Post 161. Family and friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, Wednesday 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
