Bennie E. Blackburn

Bennie E. Blackburn, 76, Vinton, Ohio passed away Tuesday April 26, 2011 at his residence. He was born June 19, 1934 in Pike County, Kentucky, son of the late Bob and Fannie Blackburn. Bennie married Millie Justice Blackburn August 22, 1953 in Mingo County, West Virginia and she preceded him in death January 17, 2003. He formerly attended Deer Creek Freewill Baptist Church and was an avid carpenter, mechanic and handyman.
Bennie is survived by one daughter, Fannie (Bill) Taylor, Vinton; one son, Danny (Barbara) Blackburn, Tennessee; grandchildren, Tounya K. (Gary) Taylor and Curtis (Cindy) Taylor, both of Vinton; Brenda (Rodney) Blackburn Pettit, Danny (Jennifer) Blackburn Jr. and Robert (Marla) Blackburn, all of California; Leanna Elkins, Lancaster, Ohio; Renee Chapman, Wilkesville, Ohio; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy (Scilvie) Blackburn, Vinton and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Bennie was preceded in death by two grandsons: David Benjamin Elkins and James Daniel Elkins and a great-grandson, Gregory Sebastian Elkins.
Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel Thursday, April 28, 2011 5:00-7:00 PM. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral service.
