Bertha Mae (Blanton) Banks
December 16, 1929 — June 23, 2010
Bertha Mae (Blanton) Banks went to be with Jesus June 23, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 16, 1929, daughter of the late Bert and Elizabeth Mae (Johnson) Blanton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Tommy and Bill Blanton and her husband, John Banks.
She is survived by her children: Johnny (Pam) Banks, Columbus, Ohio; Carole Banks, Aniak, Alaska; Jeff Banks, Louisville, Kentucky; Christi (Rick) Blazer, Gallipolis, Ohio; Mark Banks, Radford, Virginia and David (Cynthia) Banks, Poca, West Virginia. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren: Sandy Banks; Chuck and Crystal Garnes; Stephen and Stacy Banks; Joey Banks; Hope Banks; Virginia, Max and Preston; Jimi Banks; Preston Banks; Tim, Brooke, and Tori Howell; five great-grandchildren: Prince and Drake Garnes, Davon Stewart, Noah and Baby-to-be Banks and Jacy Howell. She is survived by sisters, Betty (Jack) Banks, Kingston, Ohio; Peggy Ramey, Christiansburg, Virginia and Anita (Terry) Davis, Gallipolis, Ohio; brothers, Erskine (Joyce) Blanton, Vinton, Ohio and Robert (Annie) Blanton, Ypsilanti, Michigan; many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friend and caregiver, Billie Holland.
Mom loved the Lord, her family and books. When she was able, she was a wonderful cook and gardener. Special thanks to neighbors, the Marcums and the Walkers; the Bossard Memorial Library Book Mobile and drivers; Holzer Hospice; Holzer Home Care; the Gallipolis Holzer ER and second and fourth floor staff, and Dr. Patrick Ball of Jackson.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday June 26, 2010 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Pastor Robert Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday 12:00 Noon-1:00 PM.
