Billy Ray Blackburn

Billy Ray Blackburn, age 78 of Vinton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at Holzer Medical Center Sunday, June 29, 2014. He was born February 19, 1936 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Bob Blackburn and Fannie (McCoy) Blackburn. Billy was a Veteran of the United States Navy and Army, a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who valued above everything his marriage and his connection with family. He enjoyed being outdoors, tinkering in his garage, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by many.
Billy married Scilvie Ward July 4, 1961 in Ewington, Ohio and she survives. Also surviving are sons and a daughter: Billy Ray (Kim) Blackburn, Jr., Parkersburg, West Virginia; Bobby Dwayne (Candace) Blackburn, London, Ohio; Anthony Clyde (Gina) Blackburn, San Diego, California; Benjamin Lee (Hannah) Blackburn, Vinton, Ohio and Tina Mae (Jamey) Nutter, Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Grandchildren are Joshua, Kody, Marley, Kelsey, Kyle, Garrett, Hannah, Breanna, Kendra, Erica, Tyler, Travis, Gage, Wyatt and great-grandchild Michael.
Billy was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Brylee Nicole Stutes; brother, Ben Blackburn and daughter-in-law Debbie Blackburn.
Family will receive friends Thursday, July 3, 2014 3:00-5:00 PM with a Memorial Service beginning at 5:00 PM at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio. Burial will be in the Ward Family Cemetery at a later date.
