Bruce Evan Gabriel, 86, of Rio Grande, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026. An educator at heart, Bruce was born January 24, 1940, in Galena, Ohio, to the late Walter and Mary (Thomas) Gabriel.

He taught many young minds in the Gallia County Local School District for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. A United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict, he was a graduate of Big Walnut High School is Sunbury, Ohio, he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande, Ohio and continued his endeavor in education at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia, where he received his master’s degree. His memberships include Centerville Masonic Lodge #371, American Legion, Archon and the Gallia County Retired Teachers Association.

Bruce is survived by brother, John Gabriel, Sr., Carlisle, Kentucky as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members that he thought the world of, a host of friends and the many young people he educated and influenced.

In accordance with Bruce’s wishes, no funeral services are to be held. Private interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware, Ohio. Cremation services are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio, who are honored to serve the Gabriel Family.
