Carrie Waneeda Winston, 89, Vinton, Ohio, passed away at Arbors of Gallipolis Thursday, April 19, 2007. She was born in Morgan Township, Gallia County, Ohio, youngest child and the last of her family, to the late Paris and Sarah Newman Miller. She was a homemaker and lived all her life in Morgan Township. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and attended the Bethel Church in her "growing-up" years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Kenneth Winston on April 9, 1968; and six children: Edwin Winston Jr., Virgil and Virgie Mae Winston, Leo Winston, Amanda Patterson, and Sylvia Logan; one great-grandchild, three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are six children: Freda Lawson, Gallipolis, Ohio; Carolyn Winston, Englewood, California; Brenda (Robert) Canady, Paul, and Larry (Sue Ann) Winston, all of Vinton; Stacy (Gigi) Winston, Warner Robins, Georgia; twenty grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend, Virginia Garnes, Vinton.
Mrs. Winston loved to cook, sew, garden and often would sing and quote poetry and take long walks. She was well known for her delicious cakes and pies.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with Rev. Calvin Minnis officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan-Bethel Cemetery, Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
