Catherine Smith-Chaney

Catherine Smith-Chaney, 76, Gallipolis, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Abbyshire Place, Bidwell. She was born July 23, 1935 in Gallia County to the late Oscar and Katherine Hill Smith. She married Sykes Chaney May 10, 1997 and he preceded her in death on September 28, 2003. Catherine was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and retired from Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.
She is survived by two sisters: Marian Briggs, Bidwell; Erma Hogan, Gallipolis; two brothers: Herbert (Gwen) Smith, Canal Winchester; William C. Smith, Columbus; a brother-in-law: Maurice Figgins, Bidwell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers: Margaret Figgins, Carol Borden, Donald, Paul, and Harold Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Pastor Herb Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, one hour prior to services.
