Cecil Clinton Morris, 90, Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 9, 2004 at Overbrook Center, Middleport, Ohio. He was born January 20, 1914 in Staats Mills, West Virginia, son of the late Harford Clyde and Alma Kate Hersman Morris.
Cecil was a former bus driver for the Gallipolis City Schools and retired from Gallipolis State Institute following thirteen years of service. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corportation, the Gallia County Senior Citizen Center and a member of Harris Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Blondena Blanche Rader, February 2, 1983 and later married Joanna Pelfrey, who survives. Also survivng are four daughters: Carole (Charles) Mahan, Willow Wood, Ohio; Barbara (Fred) Bonen, Vinton, Ohio; Alice (Milford) Gilbert, Cheshire, Ohio and Diana (Charles) Griffin, Clarksville, Tennessee; two sons: Cecil (Phyllis) Morris II, Forest, Ohio and William (Rebecca) Morris, Grove City, Ohio; two step-daughters, Sue (Todd) Wells, Clarksville, Indiana and Mary Dishman, Gallipolis; thirty-one grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lyndall Jarvis, Gallipolis; brothers, Danny Morris, Bidwell and Donald Morris, North Huntingdon, Pennsylvannia; and foster brother, Norval (Gertrude) Hersman, Lawrenceville, Pennsylvannia.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, a son, a step-son, three grandchildren and one great great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, February 12, 2004 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, with Rev. Ron Lemely officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM.
