Charles "Charlie" E. Russell

Charles E. "Charlie" Russell, 78, Bidwell, Ohio, went to be with Jesus  Monday, November 7, 2011. He was born October 31, 1933 in Bidwell, son of the late Dale and Garnett Denny Russell. Charlie married Phyllis Vanco Russell on December 23, 1960 in Cattletsburg, Kentucky and she survives. He was employed at the Evans Grocery Company, Gallipolis, for 23 years and the Ohio Department of Transportation for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Old Kyger Freewill Baptist Church, Cheshire.

In addition to his wife, Charlie is survived by one son, Eric (Wendy) Russell and one daughter, Cathy (Jeff) Dennison, both of Bidwell; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Adam) Traylor, Vinton; Aaron Dennison, Cody Russell, Colton Russell, all of Bidwell; great-grandson, Aiden Traylor, Vinton; sisters, Dorothy (Gerald) Wagner, Circleville, Ohio; Betty Russell, Bidwell; Clara Reynolds, Circleville; half-brother, Tom Russell, Gallipolis; half-sister, Mary Jane Koehler, Columbus, Ohio; and beloved pets, Calli and Patchy.

Charlie was a former youth baseball coach, a die-hard Cleveland Browns, Ohio State, and Gallia Academy football fan- #44. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, as as well as an avid hunter and trapper. He enjoyed loafing with his friends at the former Porter Texaco and the Korner Store in Bidwell.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Dale Russell; an infant brother and a sister, Margaret Eblin.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday November 10, 2011 at the Old Kyger Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Chapel Cemetery, near Porter. Friends and family may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis, Ohio, on Wednesday 4:00 PM-8:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be: Cody Russell, Colton Russell, Aaron Dennison, Jeff Dennison, Adam Traylor, Hank Thompson, and Jay Haskins.
