Charles Harold Edmiston, 93, passed away peacefully at home Friday, October 12, 2012 surrounded by loving family. He was born in Vinton, Ohio February 5, 1919 and lived there until he enlisted in the US Army in WWII and proudly served as a motor mechanic attached to a signal corps in North Africa and Europe. Upon returning to Drew Field in Tampa, Florida, he married the love of his life, Colleen Williams, and they were about to celebrate their 67th anniversary. Over the years, they lived in Vinton, Tampa, Ruskin, Florida and most recently Land O' Lakes, Florida. He was a cattle rancher and auctioneer at livestock markets throughout central Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Lisa Edmiston and Susan (Richard) Juarez; granddaughter, Kelley Cutillo; sister, Mary Lanier, Vinton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Grace Emerson; brother, Dr. Phillip Edmiston; children, Charles Clayton, Cathy Eileen and Norton Patten.
The Episcopal Eucharistic Burial Service was held Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. John the Divine Church in Ruskin, Florida.
Friends may call 11:00-11:45 AM Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, for visitation to be followed by a brief chapel service. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park. Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Vinton American Legion Post 161.
