Charles Gene Wetherholt, 73, passed away in Columbus, Friday, June 17, 2005, in First Community Village. Born February 16, 1932 in Gallipolis, he was the son of the late James W. and Mary Hanlon Wetherholt.
A U.S. Army Veteran, he attended Ohio University, Athens and earned a B.S. Degree at Ohio State Uuniversity, 1958 and a Juris Doctor Degree at Capitol University, 1966. He had served as Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, 1972-1976 and later served as Chief Council of the Civil Division, Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office retiring in 1995. His former memberships include: American Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, York F&AM Lodge 0563, and is presently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Columbus.
Charles is survived by wife, Martha Jane "Jan" Tullis Wetherholt; daughters, Sara Kerr/Wetherholt Brubaker, Suttons Bay, Michigan; Ellen Leigh Wetherholt Abell, Glouster, Ohio; Valerie Gene Wetherholt Spanglar, Orlando, Florida; Kristin Jan Wetherholt, Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren: Nicole Spangler, Kelsey Spangler and Jamie Brubaker; sister, Ruth Ann VanDusen, Idaho.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis, OH. Interment will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home Monday, 7:00-9:00 PM.
