Chester Johnson

Chester Johnson, 83, Langsville, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born July 26, 1933 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Pharoah and Melvina Johnson. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and an U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. His memberships included the Emmanuel House of Refuge, Wellston, Operator Engineers Union and the Vinton American Legion Post 161.
Chester is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Margaret Ellen Jacks Johnson and four children: Sheryl (Dannie) Lambert and Belinda (Tim) Lunsford, both of Vinton, Ohio; Stoney (Michelle) Johnson, Chester, Ohio and Rocky (Beth) Johnson, Langsville, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Vicey Hamby, Langsville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Johnson, great-grandson, Colton Baird; sisters: Icy Ashburn, Pricey Tackett and Allie Hall and a brother, Estil Johnson.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio with Pastor Wilford Gillem officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park where Full Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Vinton American Legion Post 161. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 12:00 PM to the time of service.
