Chester M. Young
March 27, 1931 — April 29, 2004
Chester M. Young, 73, Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004 at his residence. He was born March 27, 1931 at Gallipolis, son of the late Talmadge Craddolph and Emma Young. He was a retired employee of the City of Gallipolis, and a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, James A. Howard, who died December 26, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie M. Davis Young, whom he married September 8, 1968, at Gallipolis. He is also survived by four daughters, Althea Howard of Gallipolis; Peggie (Lee) Combs of Rutland; Patty (Robert) Armstrong of Crown City; Marica (David) Stroud of Bidwell; three sons, Edward (Winnie) Howard; Freddie (Judy) Howard; Charles (Yolanda) Howard, all of Gallipolis; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave, Gallipolis with the Rev. Calvin Minnis and the Rev. Melvin O. Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Friday.
