Clair E. "Gene" Jacks, 83, Langsville passed away Friday, February 22, 2008 at Scenic Hills Nursing Center at Gallipolis. He was born December 9, 1924 in Meigs County, son of the late Ben Jacks and LuLu Might Jacks. He was a retired farmer, a decorated World War II U.S. Army veteran, receiving three Silver Stars and a Purple Heart, and was a member of the Church of Christ at Wilkesville.

Clair married Leanna Gae Rumfield March 2, 1946 in Pomeroy, and she survives with three sons and two daughters: Clarence (Jenny) Jacks, Middleport; David (Debbie) Jacks, Middleport; Kenny (Diana) Jacks, Gallipolis; Barbara (Kimmy) Pierce, Langsville and Linda (Danny) Foust, Rockbridge; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and seventeen step-great grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters: John (Doris) Jacks, Pataskala; Ronald (Betty) Jacks, Reynoldsburg; Marjorie (John) Knotts, Langsville; Frances (Sid) Harless, Ewington and Edith Walker, Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Jacks.

Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday February 26, 2008 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Pastors Carl Swisher and Rod Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park, with full Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organizations. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, February 25, 2008 from 4:00-6:00 PM.
