Claudia Jean (Miller) Babcock

Gallipolis

Claudia Miller Babcock, a remarkable woman, passed away peacefully at home on July 31st, 2024. Claudia was born on May 10th, 1943, the daughter of L. Claude and Iris (Bodimer) Miller. Born and raised in Gallipolis, Ohio, she graduated from Gallia Academy High School, class of 1961 where she remained on the Board of the Alumni Association. She went on to attend Ohio State University, where she met Jackson Babcock while he was completing his master's in the arts. The couple moved to Brooklyn, New York, where they were married and had their daughter, Gamble.

Claudia was a woman of many talents and interests. She had an innate love for theatre, novels, and puzzles, and her keen intellect and curiosity were always evident. Her passion for learning never waned, and she shared this passion with her family and friends. She was known for her sharp wit, kindness, strength, and fierce independence. Claudia completed her career as a manager at Goldman Sachs' Mergers and Acquisitions Department In lower Manhattan.

After the passing of her beloved husband in 1967, Claudia remained a pillar of support for her family. She is survived by her only child Gamble Fanizzi (Frank) originally from Brooklyn, NY now residing in Elgin, South Carolina; her brother, Fred (Ruth) Miller Columbus OH, her nephews Fred (Kim) Miller II of Raleigh NC, John (Cliona) Miller of Columbus OH. Claudia's grandchildren—Stephen, Jaclyn (Vinny) Arcoleo, Johnny Pete and their father Stephen Fanizzi of Freehold NJ. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her great grandchildren Cali, Brooklyn and Vincent Arcoleo, and many great nieces and nephews.

Claudia's faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with comfort and strength. Her love for her family and friends was unwavering, and she had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel special and loved. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and her witty remarks always brought smiles to our faces.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, in Grace Methodist Church, Gallipolis with Rev. Ray Kane officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis. Family and friends may call at the church Tuesday 11:00AM-12:00PM. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, is honored to serve the family.

Claudia's legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us to cherish the arts, pursue knowledge, and live with kindness and strength. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit lives on in the memories we share and the values she instilled in us.

Rest in peace, dear Claudia. Your memory will forever be a blessing to us all.
