Cleo M. Lanier Sr., age 83, Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Regency Hospital, Columbus. He was a retired survey crew chief with the City of Lancaster, Engineer Department; a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church; U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II and member of Vinton American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lila JoAnn (Mulholand) Lanier; daughter and son-in-law, Lorenda & Joe Spangler; son and daughter-in-law, Bob & Phyllis Lanier; grandchildren: Bob's children, Joshua and Jesse Lanier and Lorenda's daughter and son-in-law, Landon & Aaron Mathias; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Jude Lanier; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny & Minnie Lanier; sister-in-law, Mary Lanier; brother-in-law, Harold Wooldridge, and many nieces and nephews.
Cleo was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Ann; his parents, Huber and Hope Lanier; two sisters: Charolette Wooldridge and Bertie Jane Lanier, and a brother, Leo Lanier.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio where friends may call 11:00 AM until the time of service. Pastor Douglas Stull will officiate. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park, Vinton, with the Vinton American Legion Post #161 conducting Military Graveside Rites.
