Clyde Ward

Clyde Ward, 76, Ewington, Ohio, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, Wednesday, January 16, 2008. He was born in Kimper, Kentucky on December 7, 1931, son of the late Earnest and Bertha Varney Ward. He was a retired coal miner who retired from the Southern Ohio Coal Company following twenty-eight years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Bidwell, and he was also a proud member of UMWA Local 1857.

Clyde is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Angeline Thacker Ward and three children: Sue (Larry) Hunt and Lestel (Debbie) Ward, both of Ewington and Larry (Jonda) Ward, Bidwell, Ohio; five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren: Angel (Jim) Morris and Larry Hunt, both of Ewington; Sarah (Adam) Hood, Gallipolis, Ohio; Cynthia Ward and Leslie Ward, both of Bidwell; Zach, Jacob, and Ashley Morris, Ewington; one brother and six sisters: Chester (Judy) Ward and Berdie (James) Harless, both of Ewington; Vernie (Lee) Turnmire, Kimper, Kentucky; Stella (Eddie) Hess, Scilvie (Bill) Blackburn, Fairie McCown, and Clara Blackburn, all of Ewington; sister-in-law, Christine Ward, Ewington, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Fay Slone and a brother, Reaford Ward.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 19, 2008 in the Wilkesville Church of Christ with Brothers Chester Ward and James Harless officiating. Burial will be in Vinton Memorial Park. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service at the Church. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, on Friday 5:00-8:00 PM.
