Cora Isaac, 97, State College, Pennsylvania (formerly of Vinton, Ohio) passed away April 16, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, Pennsylvania following a brief illness. She was born March 16, 1917 to Eli and Rebecca Johnson in Weeksbury, Kentucky. June 1, 1934 she married Mayland Isaac and following the passing of her husband in Ohio, she moved to Pennsylvania.
She is survived by four daughters: Verdie Rider, Pomeroy, Ohio; Carol Sue (Richard) Fitzgerald, State College, Pennsylvania; Junnie (Craig) Heverly, Howard, Pennsylvania and Julia (Gary) Boone, Mill Hall, Pennsylvania; three sons: Elige Isaac, Ypsilanti, Michigan; Eppie (Trudy) Isaac, Ypsilanti, Michigan and Lonzo (Patty) Isaac, Montrose, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she cherished the spirit and innocence displayed to her through her twenty-five grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Lola Isaac and three sons: Vernon Isaac of Vinton, Ohio; Mayland Dean Isaac of Oak Hill, Ohio and Robert Lee Isaac of Erie, Pennsylvania.
Throughout her life, Cora was known for her keen sense of humor, love of gardening both flowers and vegetables, sharp card playing skills, her famous biscuits and gravy and the love she always showed for family, friends and strangers. Everyone was welcomed in her home. No one ever left hungry even if it meant sacrifice on her part-her table was God's table.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2014 at Little Pearl Old Regular Baptist Church, Mount Tabor Road near Vinton, Ohio. Family members will be received from 12:00-1:00 PM with friends of the family being received from 1:00-2:00 PM. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, is honored to serve the Isaac Family.
