Curtis A. Ramey

Curtis A. Ramey, 83, of Rio Grande, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born December 23, 1940 in Lincoln County, West Virginia, son of the late Jennings and Elma (Adkins) Ramey.

A 1959 graduate of Rio Grande High School, Curt worked for Richard Brothers Orchard, Wade Evans Service Station, AEP, and retired from the Gallia County Ohio Department of Transportation District 10 in 2003. Curt was also a retired member of the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, and being with his "Rio McDonald" buddies.

Curt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth (Hutchins) Ramey; son, Curtis (Alice) Ramey, Vinton, Ohio; daughter, Christi Ann Burns; son-in-law, Mike Burns, Bidwell, Ohio; brother, Clifton (Tick) Ramey, Adel, Georgia; sisters: Sharlene Rollins, Chillicothe, Ohio; Lori (Dave) Hall, Columbus, Ohio and Kathy Bright, Delaware, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Sharon) Hutchins, Gallipolis, Ohio and Rusty (Janet) Hutchins, Patriot, Ohio; sisters-in-law: Jean (Tom) Meek, Adrah (Mark) Neal and June Hutchins, all of Patriot, Ohio; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Curt was preceded in death by brothers Earl, Glenn, and James.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff of Heartland Hospice, especially Danielle and Amanda. We could not have had a better support system to help the family through this very difficult time.

Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Monday, January 8, 2024 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Reverend Dale Geiser officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Tyn Rhos Cemetery. Family and friends may call on the family at the funeral home Monday beginning at 4:00 PM to the time of service.

Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Tyn Rhos Cemetery, 2680 Tyn Rhos Road, Thurman, Ohio 45685. Dinner will follow services at 1:00 PM at Simpson Methodist Church, 414 Lake Drive, Rio Grande, Ohio 45674.
