Daniel "Dan" M. Evans

Daniel "Dan" M. Evans, 90, Vinton, Ohio passed away Tuesday October 26, 2010 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was born February 11, 1920, son of the late Dan S. and Ellen Evans. Dan married Ruth Hutchinson Evans on April 5, 1956 and she preceded him in death on February 7, 1996.
Surviving are daughters, Marilyn Long, Cincinnati, Ohio; Connie Jan (Ken) Matre, Conroe, Texas; Penny Ann (Terry) Diveley, Dallas, Texas; and foster son, Owen (Sonny) Garnes, Gallipolis, Ohio.
His memberships included: Trinity Methodist Church of Porter; Vinton F&AM Lodge 131, where he had served as a Past Master and lodge secretary; The Vinton Chapter OES #357, where he had served as a Past Patron; The Welsh Cardigan Club and the Huntington Grange #371. He was a former teacher and former owner and operator of the Daniel M. Evans Insurance Agency and the Vinton Feed Mill.
In addition to his wife and parents, Dan was preceded in death by one son, Billy Long, one daughter, Ellen Mae Steward, one brother, John W. Evans and one sister, Mary Cathryn Evans.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Porter, with Pastor Robert Powell and Rev. David Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends and family may call at the church 4:00-8:00 PM Friday, October 29. Masonic services will be conducted 7:45 PM Friday at the church, by the Vinton F&AM Lodge 131.
