David Darrell Gilbert

David Darrell Gilbert, 58, Bidwell, Ohio passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 8, 2008 following an extended illness. He was born June 22, 1949 at Grunday, Virginia, son of the late Garfield and Pearl Thomas Gilbert. He retired from the Jaymar Coal Company where he was employed as a mechanic.
David is survived by his wife of forty years, Dottie Skaggs Gilbert; two children: Imogene Murray and Sarah (Charles) Miller; five grandchildren: David, Kayla, Elena Murray, Ashley and Amber Horne, all of Bidwell; sister, Carolyn Spurlock, Oak Hill, Ohio; brothers: Brady (Ellen) Gilbert, Cheshire, Ohio; Hershal Gilbert and Keith Gilbert, Gallipolis, Ohio; sisters-in-law: Goldie Gilbert, Vinton, Ohio; Helen and Wanda Gilbert, Gallipolis, Ohio; Alice Gilbert, Cheshire, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Barbara Terry, Brenda McCombs and Ann Vicaro; brothers: Homer, Gleason, Roy, Milford and Lannis Gilbert.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton with Pastor Jake Fry officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Charles Miller, David Murray, Larry Gilbert, Brady Gilbert Jr., Gary Gilbert and James Gilbert.
