David Jacob Maskew, 83, Vinton, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at OSU Wexner Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born May 3, 1940, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Jacob Joseph Maskew and Mary Claus Willis Maskew. He was an auto mechanic and a retired twenty-year U.S. Army SFC Veteran. His memberships include: New Life Lutheran Church, Gallipolis, Ohio, Vinton American Legion Post 161, Gallia County Amateur Radio Club, and Vinton Volunteer Fire Department, retiring following twenty years of service.
David is survived by his wife, Sandra Jean Whealdon Maskew; four sons: Daniel (Jean) Maskew, Frazeysburg, Ohio, Wayne Maskew, Bridgeton, Maine, Tommy (Kim) Thai, Jacksonville, Florida and David (Heather) Whittaker, Stranton, Arkansas, and two daughters, Felicia Maskew, Whitehall, Ohio and Lisa Hinton, Colorado Springs, Colorado; twenty-five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters: Barbara Windeknecht, Amanda (Carl) Winberg and Virginia Mills as well as several nephews and nieces.
Preceding David in death are son, David Scott Maskew; grandsons, Robert and Andrew Maskew and brother, Jacob Joseph Maskew, Jr.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in the New Life Lutheran Church, Gallipolis, Ohio with Rev. John Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park with Full Military Honors by Vinton American Legion Post 161. Family and friends may call at the New Life Lutheran Church on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 A.M., until the time of service. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make a purchase of a new toy for an under privileged child and donate to Toys for Tots in David's memory. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel is honored to serve the Maskew Family.
