David H. Smith, 65, Bidwell, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, March 8, 2010 in Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. He was born March 12, 1944 in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the late Paul Junior and Emogene McGuire Smith. He was a retired truck driver, a member of Prospect Baptist Church and a very loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Dave married Katha Elswick October 6, 1962 in Hatfield, Kentucky, who survives with eight children: Glenn (Lorie) Smith, Eure, North Carolina; Tina (Ed) Abele, Jackson, Ohio; Trina (Jay) Hunt, Flatwoods, Kentucky; Ted (Lana) Smith, Blytheville, Arizona; Charity (Mark) Kinney, Rio Grande, Ohio; Amanda (Josh) Markin, Pomeroy, Ohio; Brian Smith and Kyli Smith, both of Bidwell, Ohio. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four sisters: Rosie (Bud) Staten, Oak Hill, Ohio; Marcy Johnson, Rio Grande, Ohio; Geraldine Yunker, Finley, Ohio; and Nikki Yates, Centerville, Ohio.
Preceding him in death was brother, Richard Smith and sister, Debbie Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, March 11, 2010 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Pastor Dennis Smith and Pastor Dennis Smith Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodruff Cemetery near Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 6:00-8:00 PM.
