Delmar G. Davis, Sr., 72, Salem Center, Ohio, when to be with the Lord and Savior at his residence on Monday afternoon, January 24, 2011. He was born June 6, 1938, in Ohley, West Virginia, son of the late Clyde (Red) Davis and Ruthie Mildred Lovelay Davis.

Delmar worked as a coal miner for thirty seven years at Carbon Fuel Coal Company in West Virginia and then the next twenty years with Southern Ohio Coal Company.

Surviving is his faithful and loving wife of fifty one years, Deanna Kay Petty Davis. Also surviving are their children: Sandy (Terry) Napper, Dawana Davis, Tara Davis, Delmar G. (Crystal) Davis, Leann (Tiff) Bennington, Leanna Davis and his favorite, Pammy Sue.

In addition, he is survived by grandchildren: Leanna Davis (Shannon) Murphy, Thomas (Candy) Wise, Matt (Chrystal) Davis, Shane Napper, Anthony Davis, Kelly Napper, Elizabeth Tackett, David Davis, Meagan Tackett, Emilee Davis, Evan Davis, and Shelley Otworth (Jeff and boys); and great grandchildren: Connor, Bethany, Dylan, Murphy, Haleigh Salmons, Thomas Lee "Tator Tot" Wise, and little Paul.

Delmar loved children and often claimed he had twelve grandchildren and a few spares. Our spares are Breezy and Brice Jarvis and Pumpkin Butter.

He is also survived by brothers and sisters: Eddie (Faye) Davis, Kenney (Erma) Davis, Carolyn (Harry) Scott, Elbert (Trena) Davis and Betty Jo Davis; and loving in laws: Charles (Linda) Davis, Glenda Cooper, Thomas (Loretta) Petty, Peggy (Steve) Jarrell; and a true abundance of nieces and nephews, whom he adored; special friends: Cremeans Family, Daniels Family, Gannaway Family, Garnes Family, Gilbert Family, Harlow Family, Jacks Family, Peck Family, Perry Family, Silvers Family, Spires Family, Wise Family, White Family and the Yost Family.

The Davis Family would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to all who have given of their time, finances, thoughts and prayers. Your kindness has been greatly treasured. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends.

Our prayer for you is: Numbers 6:25, 26, 27. The Lord make His face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee peace. Amen.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 29, 2011 a the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Rev. Pat Henson and Rev. Gregory Sears officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday, January 28 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM.
