Deloris (Smoot) Whitley
August 31, 1931 — August 22, 2011
Deloris Whitley, 79, formerly of Gallipolis, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 in the Elmcroft Assisted Living Facility, Miamisburg, Ohio. She was born August 31, 1931 in Chesapeake, Ohio, daughter of the late Dexter and Georgia Hamlin Smoot. She was a former member of the Gallipolis OES Chapter #283.
She is survived by a son, Randy (Dianne) Whitley, Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Lu Ann Whitley, Anderson, Indiana; sister, Donna (Darwin) Taylor, Dayton; and two brothers, Ray (Marcy) Smoot and Jim (Debbie) Smoot, both of Chesapeake, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Garrett Whitley on December 1, 2001, and brother, Carlisle Smoot.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2011 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis. Entombment will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends and family may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 PM.
