Donald Wallace Barnett, Sr., 94, Langsville, Ohio passed away at his home Saturday, March 5, 2016. He was born in Evans, West Virginia, son of the late Owen Osborne and Elzina Katherine (Sayre) Barnett. He was a graduate of Rio Grande High School, a member of River of Life Church of God, Rutland, Ohio; the American Legion, Meigs County, Ohio; United States Postal Workers Union and a World War II Veteran (1942-1945) serving in Army 237 HQ 6th Army. He worked at US Steel, Lorain, Ohio for two years; Thru Shovel, Lorain for three years; the U.S. Postal Service for thirty years and was a bus driver for Meigs County Local Schools for ten years. He pastored Faith Tabernacle of Lorain for twenty years as well.

He leaves behind his wife of seventy-four years, Mary Ruth Cain Barnett; children: Martha (Bill) Elliott, Langsville, Ohio; Sandra (Gary) Northup, Vinton, Ohio; Donna (Joseph) Woolwine, Roanoke, Virginia; Naomi (Leonard) Williams, Olmsted, Ohio; Claudia (Albert) Pelkey, New Castle, Pennsylvania and Donald (Vickie) Barnett, Langsville; nineteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren and one nephew, Lloyd Nickley, San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by daughter, Debbie Barnett Hazlett; sisters: Clara Eppley, Delores Yakos and Ora Bell Nickley; granddaughters: Rebecca Dever Elliot, Kara Marie Pelkey and Lavonne Jane Elliott; and a grandson, Dale Ray McAvena.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the River of Life Church of God, Rutland, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Meigs County American Legion Post 128. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service.
