Donald E. Metheney

Donald E. Metheney, 87, Vinton, Ohio, passed away at Abbeyshire Place, Bidwell, Ohio Wednesday, October 31, 2018. He was born April 23, 1931 at Ewington, Meigs County, Ohio son of the late Thomas Mitchell Metheney and Mary Rebecca Cooper Metheney. He retired from Buckeye Automatic, McArthur, Ohio and was a member of the Ewington Church of Christ in Christian Union.  He enjoyed going to car shows and showing his 1956 Studebaker Commander but most important to him was spending time with his family.

Donald married Shirley Yvonne Oiler June 19, 1954 at Ewington, Ohio and she survives with five children: Terry (Cathy) Metheney, Sevierville, Tennesee; Rick Metheney, Langsville, Ohio; Sandra Kay (Greg) Stamper, Point Pleasant, West Virginia; Donna C. Cobb, Point Pleasant, West Virginia and Jimmie (Diana) Metheney, Langsville, Ohio.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents Donald was preceded in death by brothers Charles, Homer, Delbert and Eister Metheney and sisters Callie L. Metheney, Ora E. Hoffman and two infant sisters.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2018 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio with Pastor David Greer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Piper Cemetery near Vinton.  Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM.
