Dorcas Orelana (Hash) Dodrill, 90, formerly of Westerville, Ohio went home to the Lord Thursday, February 29, 2008 at the Russell Nursing Home in Albany, Ohio. Dorcas was born September 2, 1917 in Princeton, West Virginia to the late William "Glenn" and Luvina (Surber) Hash. She attended Vinton High School, Vinton, Ohio where she met her high school sweetheart, Donald Dodrill. She married Donald September 1, 1934 in Gallipolis, Ohio. She devoted herself to her home, family and assisted with Donald's farming operation. She worked as a public school cook for the Columbus/Mifflin Elementary Schools. Dorcas was a Sunday School Teacher, church board member and Young Missionary Workers Band Leader during her over 50 years membership in the Westerville Wesleyn Methodist Church, today Dayspring Chapel Wesleyan Church of which she is a charter member.
She was preceded in death by husband Donald, two infant sons Donald Leroy and Kenneth Neal, sisters Ruth and MaggieMae, brothers Neal, Frank and Leonard Hash; great-granddaughter, Lorena Huddle.
Dorcas is survived by her six children: John (Jeanette) Dodrill, Ashville, Ohio; Ethel (Robert) Armstrong, Westerville, Ohio; Esther Huddle (Lee Brown), Spearfish, South Dakota; Etta (Ronald) Hammons, Columbus, Ohio; Rev. Delmer (Phyllis) Dodrill, Athens, Ohio; Rev. Denver (Marilyn) Dodrill, Albany, Ohio; twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; brothers: Clarence (Ruth Ellen) Hash, Martin (Jewell) Hash and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville Tuesday, March 4, 2008 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-7:30 PM where services will be held at 7:30 PM with Pastor Delmer Dodrill officiating. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, 208 North Main Street, Vinton, Ohio 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Harvest Time Worship Center, 210 Main Street Vinton, Ohio with one hour of visitation prior to service with Pastor Delmer Dodrill officiating. Burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park.
