Edna Mae Tawney

Edna Mae (Mahan) Tawney, 82, of Gallipolis, Ohio left her earthly home to dwell in her eternal heavenly home Friday, December 12, 2025, at Holzer Assisted Living. Edna was born to the late Edgar and Mabel (Allbright) Mahan October 21, 1943, in Cadmus, Ohio. She married the love of her life Lawrence M. Tawney on January 23, 1966. Together they raised two children, Lawrence Michael “Mike” Tawney and Lisa Dawn Tawney (Clark).

Edna retired from Holzer Clinic in 2000 after many years of employment. She was a charter member of the Central Christian Church, Gallipolis, Ohio where she served as church treasurer, and former member of the Gallipolis Christian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Her faith and love for the Lord were very evident.

Edna loved Christmas and took great pride in her decorations inside and outside of the home.

More than anything, Edna loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In her later years she was so proud to tell anyone and everyone she was Lawrence’s wife.

She is survived by her husband Lawrence; children Mike (Shelly) & Lisa both of Gallipolis, Ohio; grandchildren Randi Tawney of Huntington, West Virginia, Andrea (Joel) Franklin of Gahana, Ohio, Alex Tawney, and Sophie Clark both of Gallipolis, Ohio and great grandchildren Josh and Ella Franklin of Gahana, Ohio. She is also survived by brother, Rich Mahan, brother and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Mabel Mahan; father-in-law and mother-in-law William “Bill” and Nell Tawney, and sister Mary Crews.

Friends may call, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, 5:00 to 8:00 PM at McCoy Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the funeral home, with Derek Stump officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis.

Paul bearers will be Mike Tawney, Alex Tawney, Bill Tawney, Scott Warren, Evan Warren, Darren Clark, and Thom Green.
