Elizabeth K. Bailey, 92, passed away at her residence in Gallipolis, Ohio on Sunday June 3, 2012 following a brief illness. She was born September 20, 1919 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James Oscar and Elva Blagg Knopp. Prior to her move to Gallipolis, she lived in Cheshire, Ohio for 58 years. She was an active member of the Cheshire Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and pianist for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild.
Liz was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School, Charleston Business School and Rio Grande College. She taught first grade at Addison Elementary School for 24 years and was a member of the Gallia County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Cheshire and Gallipolis Chapters of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Clarence (Jay) Mulford, Jr., Phillip T. Bailey and son James Michael Mulford. She is survived by daughter Carol Kay Rutherford (William), son F. Dennis Mulford (Susie) and daughter-in-law Marie Lynne Mulford; grandchildren, Lori Rutherford, Scott (Donna) Rutherford, Chris (Angie) Mulford, Lisa (Lonnie Grizzel) Campbell, Corissa (Chris) Deemer, Chanda & Alicia Mulford and her faithful caregiver, Chris Miller.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday June 6, 2012 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis with Pastor Steve Little officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Larry Sheets, Chuck Bradbury, Scott Rutherford, Lonnie Grizzel, Chris Mulford and Thurman Smith.
