Ellen "Tootie" Eileen (Darst) Gilbert

Ellen "Tootie" Eileen Gilbert, 84, of Cheshire, Ohio was welcomed by our Heavenly Father to dance on the streets of gold Thursday, June 6, 2024. Born June 7, 1939, in Cheshire, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Mary (Gilmore) Darst. She was a member and secretary of Poplar Ridge Free Will Baptist Church.

Ellen had the biggest heart, she was fearless, witty and fun. A kind and thoughtful soul, she will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched.

Ellen was married to her best friend and love of her life, Brady Gilbert, for 65 years, who survives. They married July 5, 1958, in Cheshire, Ohio, and together had four children: Rhonda (Samuel) Sowards, Vinton, Ohio; Rhea (Joe) Freeman, Roberta Payne, and Brady (Mendy) Gilbert, Jr., all of Cheshire, Ohio. Also missing Ellen are grandchildren: Paul Reynolds, Joanna Amos, Brittany McAvena, Adam Little, Bethany Gilbert and Brandy Gilbert; twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her twin sister, Helen Gilbert, sister, Grace Ellis and two brothers, Richard and Lonnie Darst.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 10, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Poplar Ridge Free Will Baptist Church, Bidwell, Ohio. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire, Ohio. Family and friends may call at the church Monday 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gilbert Family.
