Elsie Bernice Evans, 92, Bidwell, Ohio entered eternal rest peacefully Monday May 25, 2009 2:45 AM in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. A native of Gallipolis, Ohio she was born June 4, 1916 to the late Paul and Ethel Mitchell Black. She moved with her family to Columbus, Ohio in the 1960's and lived there until relocating back to Bidwell in 2003 due to health conditions and there resided with her daughter, Donna (Ralph) Garnes until her passing. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church of Bidwell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Evans; sons, Darryl and David Evans; great-grandson, Shawn Evans; sisters: Hazel Burton, Irene Jenkins, Mary Burke and brother, James Black.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Donna (Ralph) Garnes, Bidwell, Ohio; Wanda Evans, Columbus, Ohio; son Paul Evans, Fostoria, Ohio; grand-children: Jeanie Williams, Bidwell; Christi Evans, Brenda Evans, Joi Evans, Rev. Kem Allen Evans, Felicia Evans, all of Columbus, Ohio; Tara Evans, Roanoke, Virginia; Antenette Evans, Atlanta, Georgia; Michael Evans, Detroit, Michigan; Steve Evans, Fostoria, Ohio; Jay Evans, Roanoke, Virginia; twelve great grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (Fred) Goodwyn, Portsmouth, Virginia and a a host of loving and caring nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, May 30, 2009 in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Bidwell with Rev. Gene Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Street Cemetery, Gallipolis. Friends may call at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Saturday 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. Arrangements are by the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Gallipolis, Ohio.
