Elsie Bethelene (Hess) Marcum
January 19, 1946 — May 22, 2004
Elsie Bethelene Marcum, 58, Columbus (formerly of Vinton) passed away Saturday May 22, 2004 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Columbus. She was born January 19, 1946 in Pike County, Kentucky, the daughter of Harvey Hess, and the late Nancy Thacker Hess. She was a member of the Shining Light Baptist Church in Hilliard. Elsie married Woodrow Marcum on April 3, 1965, in Grundy, Virginia and he survives her.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Lee Hess, on March 6, 1972.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by two sons, Woodrow Dwayne (Jennifer) Marcum, Bloomington, Indiana and Timothy Donald Marcum, Columbus; three grandchildren, Joelle Marie, Bethany Victoria and Alec Dwayne Marcum; two brothers, Eddie Dean (Stella) Hess, Vinton and James Ottis (Sheila) Hess, Sidney, Kentucky; four sisters, Emogene (Dewey) Craig, Johnstown; Darthula Ruth (Oscar) Marcum, Chesapeake, Virginia; Josephin (James) Stiltner, Kimper, Kentucky; and Patricia Ann (Wayne) Cole, Mariba, Kentucky.
Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 26, 2004 in the Vinton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chester Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, from 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday May 25, 2004
