Ernestine (Marcum) Clay

Our beloved mother, Ernestine Clay, 88, Albany, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Sammy and Julia Runyon Marcum.  Ernestine married Ben Garland Clay December 19, 1953 and he preceded her in death May 13, 2006. She attended the Old Regular Baptist Churches and loved nothing better than visiting friends and family. You would never go home hungry for she was the best of cooks. She enjoyed embroidery and absolutely loved Christmas with all the decorations inside and outside of her home.

Those left behind to cherish her memory her children: Sharon Clay, Albany, Ohio; Charlotte Clay, Athens, Ohio; Ben (Lovel) Clay, Jr., Thurman, Ohio; Lois (Mike) Pooler, Racine, Ohio and Teresa Clay, Albany, Ohio; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also, she was blessed to still have two remaining sisters, that she loved dearly, Lucy Maynard and Evalou Lawson.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William Marcum; five sisters:  Edith and Olive Newsom, Fanny Maynard, Opal Matheny and Shirley Parsley.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Am Monday, February 24. 2020 at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel, with Brother Don Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Marcum Cemetery, Wilkesville, Ohio. Family and friends may call on the family Sunday at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
